| Paradigm offer a complete range of maritime satellite communication systems that can provide two-way voice and data broadband communications for operation on sea-going vessels, or on oil and gas platforms. A wide range of telephone, fax and high-speed data communication systems can be incorporated into these systems via the vessel or platform’s modem, gateway or router. The antenna system transmits to and receives from any desired C, Ku or X-band satellite which has adequate signal coverage in the current geographical area of the system.
The system comprises of two major groups -The Above Decks Equipment and the Below Decks Equipment.
The Above Decks Equipment comprises a prime focus antenna, BUC, LNB and GPS receiver mounted on a pedestal which is stabilised by motors controlled via a local CPU. Two modems allow two-way data communications with the Below Decks control equipment via the receiver IFL cable. All the Above Decks elements are housed within a single Radome cover, an environmental enclosure that provides full weather protection. An optional internal heater designed by Paradigm allows the equipment to work in temperatures as low as -30°C.
Satellite selection and tracking is achieved by an Antenna Control Unit which forms part of the Below Decks Equipment. The unit can take input from the vessel or platform’s Gyro Compass to provide heading input to the system for accurate targeting of satellites. Full system monitoring of the Above Decks Equipment is possible and software can be provided to store position data for multiple satellites.
Paradigm can also provide the appropriate SNMP Agent to integrate the antenna control unit into an existing Network Management System (NMS).
